The Kyoto Hanatoro Promotion Council will hold the "Kyoto Arashiyama Hanatoro 2013" from December 14th. The event will feature illuminations showcasing the natural and historical cultural heritage of the Saga-Arashiyama region, as well as various other events. The event will run until the 23rd.
Approximately 2,500 LED lanterns and flower arrangements will create a warmly lit stroll path. The bamboo grove and Togetsukyo Bridge area from Nonomiya Shrine to Okochi Sanso Garden will also be illuminated. Other events include the "Kotonoha Andon" event, where participants can write their own message on a lantern; the "Ikebana Promenade" organized by the Kyoto Ikebana Association; a guided walking tour of the venue with a rickshaw driver; and a stamp rally.
An opening event will be held at Nakanoshima Park on December 14th. This event expresses gratitude for the support received from across the country following the damage caused by Typhoon Hagibis in September. There will be performances by students from Kyoto City University of Arts, essay presentations by Saga Elementary School children, and performances by the Arashiyama Elementary School Taiko Club and the Saga Junior High School Taiko Club.
On the final day, 5,000 bags of cosmos seeds will be distributed under the theme "Arashiyama Hanatoro Finale - 'Blooming Thoughts'."
