The restaurant "SATSUKI LOUNGE" at Hotel New Otani Osaka will launch the "Sweets & Sandwich Buffet - Strawberry Picking at the Hotel" on January 15, 2016, featuring a lineup ranging from classic strawberry sweets to new menu items incorporating Japanese cuisine.
The buffet, which attracted a record 18,000 visitors in the spring of 2015, will be offering a strawberry-themed buffet starting on January 15, 2016 (Strawberry Day). The buffet will feature three seasonally selected brands of strawberries, including "Amaou," "Saga Honoka," and "Hino Shizuku," which will change daily.
In addition to classic strawberry sweets like shortcake, roll cake, and Napoleon pie, the buffet will also feature the ever-popular "Strawberry Mont Blanc," a fusion of Mont Blanc and strawberry, glass desserts like strawberry pudding and jelly, tartlets, and cupcakes. Also available will be popular pancakes, made with ricotta cheese kneaded into the dough and slowly baked to a fluffy, soufflé-like texture.
Also making its debut is the "Strawberry Sandwich," a recipe overseen by Hotel New Otani Osaka's Executive Chef, Ota Takahiro. This sandwich features a mascarpone and granulated sugar cream mixed with fresh strawberries sandwiched between bread dough and finished with powdered sugar. Also available will be the classic strawberry Japanese sweet, strawberry daifuku, available in four varieties: smooth red bean paste, white bean paste, sweet potato paste, and green pea paste. There will also be strawberry versions of shiratama zenzai and coffee zenzai, as well as ice cream monaka, which can be enjoyed by sandwiching your favorite ice cream, gelato, red bean paste, strawberry jam, and more between heart-shaped monaka dough. In addition to sweets made with strawberries, the buffet will also offer a wide variety of other menu items, including meat sandwiches such as roast beef, mille-feuille ham cutlet, and teriyaki chicken, as well as cheese dogs and the "Osaka Tamago Sandwich" with a thick omelet.
