Yoshiyuki Okuyama, who won the 34th New Cosmos of Photography Award in 2011 while still a university student and made his debut as a photographer at a young age, will be holding his first large-scale photo exhibition, "BACON ICE CREAM," from January 22 to February 7 at the Parco Museum on the third floor of Shibuya Parco Part 1.
The exhibition is held in conjunction with Yoshiyuki Okuyama's new photo book, "BACON ICE CREAM," which features photographs taken over the past five years. The exhibition will feature approximately 100 carefully selected images from the book, as well as archive work spanning his career from his debut to the present.
The title "BACON ICE CREAM" refers to an experimental dish that combines the opposing flavors of bacon and ice cream. It first appeared as a joke on a British variety show, but was popularized by a chef who found it amusing, and has now become a staple dessert for April Fool's Day. This dish is likened to Okuyama Yoshiyuki's style, which starts from a joke-like idea, and his experimental style of trial and error, always seeking new expressions.
In addition to pre-sale of the photo book "BACON ICE CREAM," merchandise such as original prints, ANREALAGE camera straps, and key chains from the artist unit magma will also be on sale at the venue. A talk event is also scheduled to be held during the period.
