On January 15th, women's leather bag brand Epoi will release a photo book titled "SEPARATE AS ONE" (4,800 yen), a collaboration with artist duo Scheltens & Abbenes.
The photo book is the first in the "Artisanal Dialogue" project, a collaboration between Epoi and internationally active artists. Scheltens & Abbenes, the collaborators this time, are an artist duo based in Amsterdam, Netherlands. Maurice Scheltens, a photographer who has produced still life works, and Liesbeth Abbenes, who creates craft works centered on tapestries, are the duo, and they have been producing completely new photographic works that incorporate the techniques and methodologies they have acquired in each other's fields. They have previously undertaken commissioned work with renowned brands such as Hermès and Louis Vuitton.
The newly released "Separate as One" is a set of photographs created by Scheltens & Abenes inspired by six items from Epoi, including bags and wallets. The components of the items, such as the linings and metal fittings, are suspended like mobiles and reconstructed in carefully calculated compositions based on the artists' unique interpretations.
As a signed edition, limited to 100 copies, each copy will include the artist's signature and edition number.
