Louis Vuitton will launch its Spring/Summer 2016 advertising campaign, "SERIES 4," in January. This latest chapter in the "SERIES" series, which began with "SERIES 1," artistic director Nicolas Ghesquière's first campaign for the brand, continues this trilogy, with each piece depicting a story about the diverse heroines Ghesquière pursues. Photographer Juergen Teller shot Korean actress Bae Doona against the clear blue sky of Miami, Florida. Bruce Weber, known for his work capturing the energy of youth, shot young women, including Jaden Smith, in Tampa, a city exuding timeless charm on Florida's West Coast. Additionally, Square Enix, a publisher of anime and games, also participated in this campaign. The visuals were created using Lightning, the brave heroine from the globally popular Final Fantasy game series, which has over 100 million players, who travels the world in search of her imprisoned sister.
Regarding the choice of Lightning, Nicola said, "The virtual beauty of video games is an important part of this collection. And when we try to promote the image of a heroine or a woman who takes courageous actions that make her an icon, it was clear that a virtual being would fit with the founding principles of the brand."
On the other hand, Lightning commented, "My outfits have always been a 'weapon' for survival, so I've never thought about dressing up. So maybe the position of ambassador doesn't suit me. But dressing up like this, I've begun to understand something. Choosing fashion means facing the people of this world in an outfit chosen by your own unique sense, rather than one that is taught or given to you by others. It was an exciting experience, similar to traveling to a strange foreign land. Louis Vuitton has led me to a new 'fantasy.' I'm looking forward to enjoying this experience to the fullest."
In addition to the visuals, two films produced by the two photographers will also be released on the official website and the official app, "Louis Vuitton PASS."
