Valentino's Spring/Summer 2014 collection featured a vibrant yet delicate design, lavishly embroidered. Designers Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pierpaolo Piccioli were inspired by a workshop at the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma. A series of tulle dresses adorned with Mediterranean-inspired embroidery from Greece to North Africa appeared. Extensive beading created a rich texture. Similar patterns were carried over to the print on a beige cotton dress. Other eye-catching pieces featured the volume and texture of materials, including wide-leg suede denim pants gathered below the knee and a broadcloth cape. Pairing these with a sax blue shirt created an incredibly elegant look. Leather thong sandals dominated the collection. The main colors were dark red, deep green, and black. Bags featured Rockstuds and clutches lavishly decorated with fringe.
