Patrick Stephan releases new Japanese-style themed bags at Isetan Men's

Jan 23, 2014

Patrick Stephan is holding a pre-sale promotion for their new bags on the first floor of the Isetan Shinjuku Men's Building from January 22nd until the 28th.
The theme for Spring/Summer 2014 is "Japanese Room." Inspired by traditional Japanese rooms, the new collection features details reminiscent of sliding doors, tatami mats, and shoji screens. While the brand has primarily used smooth leather up until now, this time they have adopted embossed leather to express the texture of tatami and washi paper. The leather has different sheen finishes on the inside and outside, expressing shine (light) and matte (shadow). In addition to the classic black, the new collection also includes a vivid blue.
Patrick is a French designer who worked at Thierry Mugler and then gained experience in Dior's couture department under John Galliano. He was impressed by the beauty of Shiseido's perfume bottles that were on display at an exhibition in Paris showcasing traditional Japanese crafts, and became deeply interested in Japonism.
