MIKIO SAKABE has presented its 2017-18 Fall/Winter collection.
MIKIO SAKABE is designed by Mikio Sakabe and Shueh Jen-Fang from Taiwan. For its previous Spring/Summer 2017 collection, which marked the 10th anniversary of its debut, the brand held a large-scale show at Miyashita Park. The previous collection featured a blend of styles spanning the 70s, 80s, and 90s, but this season, which was presented as an exhibition rather than a show, the brand returned to its roots and basics while proposing designs that were reworked based on a new axis.

The video focuses on shirts, coats, and pants, with a monochrome color palette based on black. Materials are also primarily basic, such as cotton and wool. Embroidery and weaving of ribbons and cats add variety. Shoes are also a feature of this season, with more shoes designed by an Indonesian designer who is a friend of the designer. Sakabe said, "The 2017 Spring/Summer collection summed up our 10th anniversary, but this season, since 2000, when each individual person is connected like cells through the internet, I thought we could gradually return to a time when we were neither overly designed nor too basic to blend in with the general public. Going forward, I would like to create both our own designs and designs that make use of Asia's strengths."
