CITIZEN will be exhibiting for the first time at the Milano Salone, a global design festival being held in Milan, Italy, from April 8th. As part of its global branding initiative, the aim is to further promote the appeal of the Citizen brand.
The exhibition will feature an installation by the Citizen design team and Paris-based architect Tsuyoshi Tane. The theme, "Light is Time," is inspired by Citizen's watchmaking. Located within the Triennale Design Museum, the installation will use 80,000 baseplates, the fundamental device that supports all of a watch's components, to create a fantastical space filled with light and sound. Also on display will be a 1920s pocket watch, the origin of Citizen, as well as the latest satellite watch models, expressing the worldview of Citizen design from the present to the future.
Tsuyoshi Tane is an architect from Tokyo. In 2006, he founded DORELL.GHOTMEH.TANE/ARCHITECTS in Paris with Italian Dan Dorell and Lebanese Lina Ghotmeh. They have received various awards, including the French Ministry of Culture's New Architect Award, and are highly acclaimed, especially in Europe. In 2012, they attracted attention when they were selected as a finalist in the international competition for the new National Stadium in Tokyo's bid for the Olympic Games.
