Citizen Watch Co., Ltd. has opened the Citizen Global Time Cafe at Hills Cafe/Space, a cafe and space on the second floor of the Hillside complex in Roppongi Hills, Tokyo. Open until November 24th, the cafe is open from 11:00 to 23:00. The cafe will showcase the latest men's and women's models featuring Direct Flight, a simple function that displays the time around the world. Popular models such as the Attesa Double Direct Flight, a light-powered Eco-Drive radio-controlled watch, and the Promaster Eco-Drive Satellite Wave Air, which was announced at Baselworld 2013, are also on display. Visitors can try on the watches. The cafe will offer original menu items inspired by this fall's new watches, including the "World Travel Sandwich Plate" (1,000 yen), which features a Paris-inspired sandwich with a choice of Tokyo or Chicago-style side dish, the "Around the World Bowl" (1,200 yen) which combines Australian beef with a Thai-style fried egg, the "Happy Rose Tart" (680 yen), limited to 25 servings, and the "Original Cappuccino" (600 yen) featuring watch-themed cafe art.
A press party was held the day before the opening, where a live performance by cellist and composer Hajime Mizoguchi was held, featuring the theme song for his signature TV program "From the Train Window of the World" and a Christmas version of "Citizen Sound," which is used as the time signal on J-WAVE.
