Southern California-based "JET" opens its first Japanese store in Roppongi Tokyo Midtown

May 5, 2013

The West Coast denim brand JET officially launched in Japan on April 25th, following the Tokyo Midtown renovation. World holds the domestic license and began selling the brand in Japan in Spring/Summer 2012. Previously, the brand has been available at pop-up shops in Nagoya and other locations, as well as in a corner of the Isetan Shinjuku store, but this exclusive store marks its first in Japan. JET is a California real-clothing brand founded in 1987 by John Eshaya, a former buyer for the Santa Monica select shop FRED SEGAL in LA. Currently, a JET corner has been set up in the Fred Segal Santa Monica store, which serves as its flagship store. The brand name is an abbreviation of "John Eshaya T-shirts." It is recognized as a casual style for celebrities, and is particularly renowned for its denim silhouettes. Each model number is named after a beach or place, such as "Newport Beach" or "Redondo Beach."

The Japanese store carries two lines: "John Eshaya," which is also available in the US, and "JET Los Angels," which is a Japanese-standard line. JET Los Angels offers items tailored to Japanese silhouettes, as well as winter items such as outerwear. They also offer men's items (denim, shirts, T-shirts, sweatshirts) and two styles of denim pants for kids.
