This year's Mother's Day campaign, focusing on spending time with family, is expanding.
Barneys is bringing its portrait campaign, which is based in the United States, to Japan for the first time in several years. Under the theme "LOVE MOM," the company is displaying photos of the real mothers of its employees in the windows of its Ginza and Shinjuku stores.
"We wanted to create a nostalgic window display that evokes family ties and other interpersonal relationships to convey our gratitude. By using family photos of our employees, we hope to build a homey, friendly relationship with our customers. We hope the window display will remind them of their family ties," says a company spokesperson.
Also, BEAMS released a Mother's Day-themed short film, "Happy Surprise MOVIE - Delivering Happiness - by BEAMS."
The film centers on a couple moving into a new home, and depicts the family's journey over the past 30 years through the "shoes" of the family and the mother placed in the entranceway.
After pregnancy and childbirth, a mother is so busy with childcare and housework that she has no time to buy new shoes. As her children grow, their shoe sizes gradually increase, and eventually they start new family members, and their children's shoes also increase. However, the mother's shoes remain unchanged and always remain there. The video ends with the mother being given a gift by her family to express her gratitude.
Under the corporate philosophy of "HAPPY LIFE SOLUTION COMPANY," the company has been producing the "Delivering Happiness" series of videos since June last year, and this is the fourth installment, following films for Father's Day, Respect for the Aged Day, and Christmas.
