It was announced last month that John Galliano would be appearing as a lecturer at Parsons The New School for Design in New York, but it has now been announced that the lecture has been canceled.
Galliano was fired from Dior in February 2011 after being arrested by police for making racist remarks and was also convicted. There had been speculation that this could be an opportunity for him to return to the fashion industry, but there was a lot of opposition online and elsewhere to the idea of someone with a criminal conviction teaching, sparking controversy.
A flyer for the lecture was posted on the school's official website, but has since been removed.
