LACOSTE's casual line, LACOSTE L!VE, will be releasing a capsule collection in collaboration with Tezuka Productions. The collection features T-shirts (7,875 yen each) and polo shirts (16,800 yen each) featuring motifs from three manga works: the passenger plane crash and explosion scene at the beginning of Tezuka Osamu's early sci-fi novel, "The Mysterious Man of the Underground Kingdom"; the birth of Atom from "Astro Boy"; and the scene of "The Ghost Town Drifter" escaping a sandstorm and arriving at a ghost town from "Black Jack." Advance orders will begin on the 11th at the LACOSTE L!VE Harajuku Olympia Annex store. At the same time, advance orders will also be accepted for 50 pairs of limited-edition collaborative shoes (17,325 yen), scheduled for release in August. Hiroaki Ohya, the designer behind this collaboration, was inspired by a quote from "201 Words from Tezuka Osamu: To Those Living Today," published in 2005: "There are three dreams that humanity has held since ancient times: flying, transforming, and communicating with animals and nature." He selected his favorite scenes from six of Tezuka's manga. "The Mysterious Man of the Underground Kingdom" expresses the dream of flight, "Astro Boy" the dream of transformation, and "Black Jack" the dream of communicating with nature. Ohya commented, "The story unfolds in the order of introduction, development, twist, and conclusion on the package cover, the front of the polo shirt and T-shirt, and sometimes the back, and the inside of the package. The wearer can freely expand on the story, which brings joy to those around them." In 1999, Tezuka Productions and Ohya launched the "Astro Boy"-themed fashion brand, "Astroboy by Ohya."
