Known as a "rock" photographer, Anton Corbijn was born on May 20, 1955, in Strijen, Netherlands. He currently lives and works in London.

He began taking portraits of folk singer Sandy Denny in the 1970s, and has since continued to photograph world-famous artists such as The Rolling Stones, U2, Metallica, Nirvana, Coldplay, and Björk. In addition to photography, he has also worked on the art direction of their albums, concert production, and music videos. In 2005, he published the photo book "U2 & I."

In recent years, he has also turned to filmmaking, and his directorial debut, "Control" (2007), which depicts the life of Joy Division lead singer Ian Curtis, won awards including the Camera d'Or Special Prize (Best New Director) at the Cannes Film Festival. He also made his Hollywood debut in "The Last Target" (2010), starring George Clooney, which debuted at number one in the US cinemas upon its release. The film has become Clooney's signature work. His third film, "A Most Wanted Man," is scheduled for release in November of this year, and stars Rachel McAdams and Philip Seymour Hoffman.

In addition, a documentary film following him, "Anton Corbijn: The Story of a Legendary Photographer," directed by Kláce Kleins, was released in April of this year. The film offers a glimpse into Corbijn's work with U2, Depeche Mode, Metallica, and George Clooney.
