Viktor Horsting, one of the designers of the fashion brand Viktor & Rolf, was born on May 27, 1969, in Israel.
Viktor graduated from the Fashion Institute Arnhem in the Netherlands in 1992. He founded Viktor & Rolf in 1993 with Rolf Snoeren, whom he met at the school. That same year, they won three awards at the Hyères International Fashion Festival, a French competition for new designers: the Press Award, the Women's Award, and the Grand Prize.
In 1994, they presented a collection titled "HILVER DE L'A MOUR" (Winter of Love) at the Musée d'Art Contemporain de Paris. Their creations, which combined fashion and art, attracted attention. From Spring/Summer 1998 to Autumn/Winter 2000, they participated in five Paris haute couture collections. They have presented collections such as "Atomic Bomb," with a mushroom cloud-like neckline, and "Russian Doll," in which they performed a performance in which model Maggie Reiser was wrapped in 10 layers of clothing.
From the 2000 A/W season, they participated in the Paris women's ready-to-wear collection, launched a men's line in 2003, and a fragrance line in 2005. Their eyewear, which debuted in 2004, is always worn by Viktor and Rolf and has become an icon for them. Since 2008, they have had a manufacturing and sales licensing agreement with Staff International, a subsidiary of Only the Brave (OTB), owned by Renzo Rosso, founder and president of Diesel.
They are also active in collaborations, and have released collaborative items with a wide range of brands, including H&M in 2006, suitcase brand Samsonite in 2009, cosmetics brand Shu Uemura in 2008, and luxury stroller Bugaboo in 2012.
In 2004, an exhibition titled "COLORS," directed by them, was held at the Mori Art Museum, where major collections were displayed.
On April 22nd of this year, they announced that they would once again become a member of Paris Haute Couture. Their first haute couture collection in 13 years is scheduled to be shown in July of this year.
