Founded in 1903 as a millinery shop near Vienna, Muhlbauer once offered women's clothing, but in 2001, fourth-generation owner Klaus Muhlbauer relaunched the company as a dedicated hat manufacturer. Muhlbauer's fashionable designs, incorporating tradition, have earned the brand a loyal fanbase, including celebrities like Brad Pitt and Madonna, who eagerly await each season's collection. The 2013-14 Autumn/Winter collection from Muhlbauer is here. The design team simultaneously incorporated opposing images—"light and shadow," "front stage and backstage," "party and everyday life"—into the designs, bringing together a glittering, extraordinary world and a down-to-earth, everyday world in a single collection. Take, for example, the "julija" series, crafted from exceptionally soft nappa leather. From metallic headbands and stewardess-style hats to colorful, shiny traditional Russian hats and hunting berets, the collection offers a truly unique aesthetic.
Classic men's style hats, such as bowler hats, pork pies, and homburg hats made from fur and felt, are available in both natural and pop colors, making this a collection that allows you to enjoy something "out of the ordinary" in your everyday life.
Of course, the basic line, which uses carefully selected materials such as Tuscan lamb fur, Austrian wool felt, and wool fleece, is also still available. One of the most popular hats is the "Warm" series, a felt hat with a headband that you'll likely not want to let go of this winter. The headband can be folded inward, making it both functional and cute. This is the brand's confident product for this season.
