Dom Pérignon, produced by MHD Moët Hennessy Diageo, has announced a collaborative project with contemporary artist Akira Yamaguchi and animation studio GAINAX. The project will be unveiled in July to coincide with the release of Dom Pérignon Vintage 2004.
Dom Pérignon has previously collaborated with cutting-edge creators from various genres to produce new creations under the title "Dom Pérignon The Power of Creation." Last year, the brand released a collaborative bottle with product designer Marc Newson and film genius David Lynch.
Akira Yamaguchi was born in 1969. In 2001, he received the Excellence Award at the 4th Taro Okamoto Memorial Award for Contemporary Art. Known for his works that combine traditional Japanese techniques such as Yamato-e painting with modern customs, he has also worked on public art at Narita International Airport and other locations, illustrations for Itsuki Hiroyuki's novel "Shinran," and sliding door paintings for the Byodo-in Temple's Important Cultural Property, Yorin-an Shoin. He has held solo exhibitions both in Japan and abroad, including at Maison Hermès, Ginza Mitsukoshi, and Singapore. Gainax is a leading Japanese animation studio that has produced titles such as "Neon Genesis Evangelion," "Nadia: The Secret of Blue Water," and "Royal Space Force: The Wings of Honnéamise." Their works are known for transcending the realm of anime and becoming social phenomena. In addition to anime production, they also work on stage direction.
