David Bowie's new vinyl red album and red T-shirt are released in limited edition in collaboration with Paul Smith

May 27, 2013

It has been announced that a limited edition vinyl version of David Bowie's latest album, "The Next Day," will be released in 10 stores nationwide in Japan and at the official online shop on June 8th. The limited edition product has been available in stores outside of Japan, including the UK, since May 17th.

This limited edition is a completely limited edition Paul Smith release, and is Bowie's first "red vinyl" studio album. It is a two-disc set in a translucent red color chosen by Paul himself. It will cost 5,040 yen.

Even before starting his own brand as a designer, Paul Smith would buy printed fabric and have his mother sew ties for him, selling them to Eric Clapton and Rod Stewart. He also has a longstanding friendship with David Bowie. To commemorate Bowie's first new album in 10 years, the two have released a collaborative series that mixes their styles.

To coincide with the release of the limited edition vinyl, a red version of the T-shirt (8,400 yen) has been specially released, featuring the album cover artwork by Jonathan Barnbrook and Paul's autograph. The already sold-out white T-shirt will also be restocked.

The limited edition vinyl will be available at the Paul Smith Sendai, Shibuya, Marunouchi and Paul Smith stores. Available exclusively at SPACE, Kanazawa store, Fukuoka store, Paul Smith JEANS HAPPY SHOP, Daikanyama store, Paul Smith JEANS Horie store, Paul Smith JEANS Kobe store, and the official online shop.

The T-shirts (red and white) will be available at Paul Smith shops, Paul Smith Jeans shops nationwide, and the official online shop.
