The dresses worn by actresses on the red carpet at film festivals, including the Academy Awards, always attract attention, but the Cannes Film Festival, held in France, the land of fashion, is said to be the most fashionable of all.
This year's 66th edition kicked off with the premiere of "The Great Gabby," starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Carey Mulligan, at the pre-event screening on May 15th.
Mulligan appeared on the red carpet in a pale pink couture dress by Dior. Her Tiffany & Co. earrings, measuring over 5 carats, are said to be worth over 100 million yen in Japanese yen.
Nicole Kidman, a member of the festival's jury and set to star in "Grace of Monaco," a film about the life of the late Princess Grace Kelly of Monaco, also wore a Dior dress. The 45-year-old star actress's floral motif, expressing grace and charm, complemented her striking coral pink shoes. Another eye-catching look in vibrant coral pink was Freida Pinto, who wore a one-of-a-kind Gucci silk chiffon halter dress accented with a luxuriously embellished belt. Former model and designer Ines de la Fressange's white dress and shawl were from Chanel's Métiers d'Art Paris-Bombay collection, a collection that brings together the finest craftsmanship. They exuded the beauty and elegance of a mature French woman. The festival continues until the 26th, with cast and crew members from each film appearing on the red carpet each day. We'll be keeping an eye on their outfits.
