To celebrate the 10th anniversary of its launch in Japan, cosmetics brand Aveda will hold its first public event in Japan, "Aveda Beauty Lounge: Mind, Body, Aveda," at the Roppongi Hills Big Roof Plaza on June 1st and 2nd. The event will run from 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM. The grassy area will feature an augmented reality (AR) windmill, symbolizing Aveda, the first cosmetics brand to manufacture products 100% wind-powered. The event will also feature scalp and hand massages using Aveda's products, as well as an experiential stage show by yoga instructor Shinobu Oehara. Since 2007, Aveda has been powering its main facilities in Minnesota, including manufacturing, distribution, and headquarters, with 100% wind energy. The company also offsets the energy used at its Aveda salons and beauty schools in New York City by purchasing wind energy credits. Additionally, the company supports the development of wind power equivalent to the amount of energy used by purchasing alternative energy from local power companies. In addition, the company is actively involved in social and environmental issues, such as implementing Earth Day with the aim of bringing clean water to parts of the world, raising awareness about early detection of breast cancer, and abolishing animal testing.
