At its Spring/Summer 2014 Preview Exhibition, fabric trading company Takisada Nagoya debuted its cross-departmental sales project, "Master of Creation." The company's sales departments are known for their independent accounting systems. This has led to fierce competition between departments, and collaboration has been rare until now. However, starting with next spring/summer materials, the company has formed a cross-departmental project team to enhance internal synergy and propose new materials from three perspectives. The first is "European Imported Materials." Rather than simply importing materials from Italy and France, the company will source materials filtered through Takisada Nagoya's own expertise. Starting with the Fall/Winter 2014 project, the company will also enter European fabric production centers and promote the development of original Takisada Nagoya textiles. The second is "Yarn and Raw Material Development." This time, the company collaborated across departments to develop "Luna Titanium Cool," a cooling triacetate material. This yarn and raw material development will lead to new products each season. The third is "Decoration and Collaboration." These are materials created through in-house collaboration, incorporating the post-processing techniques of Takisada Nagoya's 18 departments.
The company has also begun supporting young designers since last fall.
Currently, it supplies fabric to a total of 15 young designers, including "Support Surface" and "Atsushi Nakashima." Since these young designers produce small quantities, they often purchase small amounts of fabric. However, fabric manufacturers in the production areas prefer to sell large quantities of fabric, making it difficult for young designers to purchase. As a result, Takisada Nagoya has begun supplying fabric to young designer brands in small quantities. The company explains the background to this initiative, saying, "We don't expect it to become a big business, but we think it would be good if we could gain information by interacting with creators."
