Johan Ku Gold Label unveiled its 2014 Spring/Summer collection on October 18th. Designer Johan Ku, the designer, chose the theme "Selma." The collection was inspired by the protagonist Selma, played by Björk in the film "Dancer in the Dark." The opening collection featured jackets and skirts with graphic prints, created by stitching together scraps of various materials, including cotton, silk, plastic, and polyester, to create a mosaic-like pattern. Later, the collection showcased rust-colored and black net-like knitwear, inspired by the steel factory where the film's protagonist, Selma, worked. Toward the end of the show, a three-dimensional dress was displayed, made by covering a graphic-patterned dress with a crinkled, translucent vinyl material. The graphic pattern was clearly visible from up close, but from a distance, the translucent material obscured the pattern.
"In the film, Selma's eyesight gets worse and worse, and she is falsely accused and driven to death, but there was something very moving about the emotion of 'she is actually very innocent, but is seen as not being so'. This time I tried to express that blurred vision and the difference in appearance depending on the distance by mixing materials."
