Isetan Shinjuku's Christmas cake pre-orders began on October 5th. The store offers 45 varieties across five categories. This year's offerings feature a variety of white cakes reminiscent of Grimm's fairy tales and fairy tales, such as Hansel and Gretel. Prices range from 4,000 to 10,000 yen, with the majority in the 5,000 yen range. Some items have already sold out.
This year's theme is "Fantasy." The offerings include cakes created by top pastry chefs, collaborative cakes between pastry chefs, cakes by the next generation of creators, cakes with various sizes, and cakes suitable for all ages. Pre-orders are open until December 8th (phone reservations until December 7th).
Jean-Paul Hévin has announced three cakes, including the "Best of Paris," which combines rich chocolat noir mousse with violet-scented raspberry jelly and crispy crustian sable chocolate. Pierre Hermé Paris will be showcasing a wide selection of striking cakes, including a cake depicting the joy of living, created in collaboration with French artist Bernard Quentin, and an elegant cake by Yoshiaki Kaneko of Paris Seveille. Also attracting attention will be the re-debut of Aigle Douce, as well as first-time participants Pâtisserie Yu Sasage and Pâtisserie Voisin. The event also highlights the growing polarization of Christmas celebrations this year, with those who prefer lively home parties with many friends and those who prefer cozy get-togethers with just their spouse. A variety of cake sizes are available, including large cakes for around eight people by Pâtissier Jun Honma and Lolioli 365 by Anniversary, and cakes for two by Libertable and Agnes Hotel Tokyo Le Couvent Vert.
In addition, the collaborative cake between French M.O.F. chocolatier Christian Camprini and pastry baker and chef Koichi Sato of the Hyatt Regency Tokyo, which is making its debut this year, as well as cakes by Patisserie Ryoko and Minami Aoyama Chocolat Chic, who are highly regarded as the next generation of pastry chefs, have already sold out after a flood of pre-orders from the first day.
