F.I.T. Archive "Ivy Style Exhibition" held at Isetan Shinjuku, selling limited edition reproductions of Brooks, Regal, Gurkha, and more

Oct 18, 2013

For six days from October 30th to November 4th, "THE IVY STYLE EXHIBITION BY F.I.T.", an event featuring Ivy League fashion, will be held in the event hall on the 7th floor of the Shinjuku store's main building.

The event will include an exhibition of Ivy League fashion archives from the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) in New York, as well as a trunk show and talk session, along with a sale of Isetan-exclusive models arranged for the event.

A total of 14 styling pieces from the archives will be shown in Japan for the first time. These were exhibited at the "Ivy Style Exhibition," which ran for about six months from last September at the FIT Museum, run by FIT, and include wartime suits and formal wear, blazers from eight eastern universities, and ageless casual wear. Also on display will be Japan's first trunk show by Martin Greenfield, one of America's three major suit factories, and exclusive models from 15 brands, including Band of Outsiders. Brooks Brothers' extra-short jackets and suits, sized to fit the Japanese body type, will be unveiled for the first time in the world. Also on sale will be limited-edition reproductions of early models from REGAL and made-in-the-USA GHURKA. Events during the event include a talk session with experts with ties to Ivy League and a user-participation blazer style photo shoot (November 3rd, 2:00 PM - 6:00 PM). Starting at 2pm on November 2nd, there will be a talk session between Keii Michihiko, who has led the Japanese Ivy League scene through ties, and Tailorcade founder Yamamoto Yuhei, and from 12pm on the 4th, Terry Ito, well-known for his participation in the Free & Easy Blazer Championship, and Japan Ivy League veteran Kurosu Toshiyuki. Additionally, a cafe and bar from New York lifestyle store Freeman's Sporting Club Tokyo will be open within the venue, serving original drinks and more. New York's Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) is a State University of New York school founded in 1944 with the aim of nurturing talent for the art and design industries. Its museum houses an archive of over 50,000 pieces dating back to the 18th century. This will be the first time that the school's collection will be exhibited overseas.
