Isetan Shinjuku Main Store Men's Building will celebrate the 10th anniversary of its remodel on September 10th, and to commemorate this, various projects will begin on the 11th.
The highlight of the project, "Black Watch Shower," will feature limited edition items featuring the Black Watch pattern, which has been an icon of Isetan Men's since it was first used on shopping bags in 1968.
The lineup will include over 50 items, including suits, casual wear, and miscellaneous goods. Mackintosh will be selling a layered jacket with a detachable hood and vest (¥69,300), Daniel & Bob will be selling a two-way tote bag (¥94,500) made of leather developed in collaboration with Montana, a long-established Tuscan tannery, featuring a Black Watch print, while Scye will be selling a blouson jacket (¥39,900) featuring a Black Watch print using the "Mona Lisa" transfer technology of Komatsu Seiren, a leading Japanese materials manufacturer. Le Trois and Inverallan will be selling Black Watch cardigans, while Aesop will be selling limited edition skincare packaging. Also, on the second and third floors, a "Black Tie Creation" project will be held, proposing dress-up styles in collaboration with 25 brands. Tom Ford's "White Tie Collection," which is usually only available as a fully custom-made item, has been redesigned from scratch to fit the Japanese body type, creating a compact silhouette. Items like tailcoats (588,000 yen) will also be sold ready-to-wear for the first time. Other participating brands include TAKAHIROMIYASHITATheSoloIst., KRISVANASSCHE, and kolor. A complete lineup will be offered, including tuxedos, coats, and accessories.
International Creators will offer genderless proposals from the next generation of creators, focusing on a feminine edit. It will feature men's items by female designers and men's items from women's brands. Sarah Burton's Alexander McQueen stained glass series will also be on display.
In addition, "Watch Around," featuring discerning watches, will open on the 8th floor. The store will also carry watch-related items, including an ESPRIMA winding machine (77,700 yen). A new counter has been set up on the basement floor where repairs and maintenance of leather items such as bags, wallets and belts can be received. A gift catalogue will also be available, featuring a wide variety of items such as miscellaneous goods, accessories and clothing selected by buyers from the men's building.
The men's building was remodeled in 2003. Over the past 10 years, the store has expanded its business to the point where it now accounts for 30% of sales in the men's department of Tokyo's department store industry. In addition, ahead of the 10th anniversary, the social fashion site "Isetan Men's Net" opened on the 28th.
