Digital Fashion Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Osaka City; President and CEO: Osamu Morita), which has been promoting "Fashion on Demand" using the latest IT fashion technology such as virtual fittings and digital fashion shows, launched the group buying site "Real Collection Project Shop" on October 1st.
Unlike typical online shopping sites selling ready-made products, designers and creators publish their own designs and ideas on the site, inviting buyers. Once a certain number of buyers are reached, the products are produced and sold. It's a project-based, sort of crowdfunding platform, but it's the first of its kind to focus specifically on fashion.
The seller (owner) sets the delivery date and quantity and is responsible for everything from manufacturing to delivery to the buyer, but the products are made to order after the project is established. In addition to avoiding inventory risk, the site also offers purchase reservation and payment agency services. It's also an attractive venue for showcasing cutting-edge pieces that are difficult to mass-produce. Buyers can also acquire "unique pieces" and "clothing no one else has worn," providing investors with the opportunity to support promising creators.
Works are subject to review, and membership registration is required. As part of its services, the site will also provide on-demand custom production services for designers without production lines, lend its in-house design and pattern creation software "DressingSim LSX" to supply chains, and provide images of finished garments using proprietary CG technology. It also offers production efficiency and project management services using digital tools.
In the future, the site will seek exhibitors from a wide range of designers and creators. As a kickoff project for the site's launch on October 1st, the following three brands will offer rare items that cannot be purchased anywhere else.
DEVOA: A brand founded by Daisuke Nishida, a former wrestler and medical trainer. Its comfortable, anatomically-oriented clothing, beautiful silhouettes, and beautiful stitching have captivated many fans. This time, the exhibit features custom-made coats and jackets inspired by artists' workwear.
PIED PIPER REBIRETH PROJECT:
PIED PIPER, the shop that once dominated men's street fashion, has made a comeback in collaboration with REBIRTH PROJECT, led by actor and director Yusuke Iseya. While maintaining its original vision, the brand is committed to ethical materials and domestic production, and this time offers down items made from car airbag material.
A DEGREE FAHRENHEIT: A brand created by designer Yu Amano, who moved to New York in 2004 and won the grand prize two years in a row at the GEN International Design Contest, which has produced designers such as Zac Posen and Phillip Lim. The brand pursues artistic and emotional beauty with a focus on materials, details, and patterns.
