Gentle colors and fabrics encountered during a trip to India. "Fabrics, Colors, India" exhibition held at MUJI

Apr 17, 2017

The "Fabric, Color, India" exhibition will be held at ATELIER MUJI in the MUJI Yurakucho store in Tokyo's Yurakucho district from April 28 to June 25.

Fabric holds a special place in India, and the handicraft industry is deeply rooted in daily life. So much of the world's handwoven fabrics are produced by Indian people.

The colors that adorn the fabrics reflect India's rich nature, vast land, and racial and ethnic diversity, creating a diverse and fascinating landscape. And among the chaotic swirl of colors, there are also soothing and calming colors.

The exhibition will create a space where visitors can experience a gentle India through the various fabrics and colors discovered during travels around India. Additionally, on May 18th from 6:30pm to 7:30pm there will be a talk event entitled "India as Seen Through Manufacturing" (capacity 30 people/free participation) where MUJI designers who have worked on fabric products in various parts of India will talk about Indian manufacturing, and on June 3rd there will be three sessions, from 11am to 12pm, 2:15pm to 3:15pm, and 4:30pm to 5:30pm, where you can enjoy making handkerchiefs with prints that are full of the expression of handmade craftsmanship, at the workshop "Try pressing a real wooden board from India" (capacity 8 people per session/free participation) (advance reservation required via the official website).
