MUJI Labo, which has been challenging itself with creating new basic clothing for MUJI, has been redesigned as the "New MUJI Labo" with a new product lineup and material approach from the 2017 Spring/Summer 2017 season. A new collection will be released in January 2017.
MUJI Labo is a brand launched in 2005 as a laboratory for developing basic items from new perspectives. It operates 26 stores in Japan, primarily flagship stores in Japan and Asia, and 15 stores in six countries overseas. This marks the first redesign of MUJI Labo since the 2012 Spring/Summer 2017 season. Starting with the 2017 Spring/Summer 2017 season, Daisuke Obana will serve as design director for men's wear, and Taro Horiuchi will serve as design director for women's wear. Items will be developed from their respective perspectives within the same theme for each men's and women's category.
From January 2017, a clothing theme will be decided each month, with an entire wardrobe completed within six months. The themes are coats and denim in January, sweatshirts in February, shirts and chinos in March, T-shirts and polo shirts in April, shirts and shorts in May, and dresses in June.
Items scheduled for release in January 2017 include the "Nylon Chester Coat (Men's)" (17,900 yen including tax), "Japan Fabric Stretch Denim Tapered (Men's and Women's)" (6,990 yen including tax), "Cotton Double-Weave Trench Coat (Women's)" (19,900 yen including tax), and "Non-Shoelace Sneakers (Men's and Women's)" (3,990 yen including tax).
