Yajima Construction is renovating the Ueno Shochiku Department Store in front of Ueno Station and opening it as the Ueno no Mori Sakura Terrace, a comprehensive dining and beverage complex, on April 26th. Details were announced on the 24th. Hours are 11:00 AM to 11:00 PM. The all-glass building, with three above-ground floors and one basement floor, will house 19 Japanese, Western, and Chinese restaurants. The total floor area is 3,785.66 square meters. While the building's main clientele was tourists visiting Ueno Park and Ueno Zoo during its time as a department store, the new facility targets foreign visitors and young people. "In preparation for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, we will operate under the theme of 'omotenashi' (hospitality) in conjunction with the neighboring 'UENO3153' and 'Ueno Bamboo Garden,'" said a spokesperson for Ueno no Mori Sakura Terrace. On the first floor, the beer pub, 'Ebisu Bar,' will be the first in the Ueno area, offering the entire lineup of Yebisu draft beer. Based on the concept of "the marriage of Yebisu and cuisine," the menu features a recommended beer icon next to each dish, clearly suggesting the perfect pairing. The interior is lit up in a way that evokes the lanterns of Ueno Park, creating a "Ueno-esque" atmosphere, a famous cherry blossom viewing spot. Also opening on the first floor is the new soba bar Kinojiya, which offers mori soba noodles (400 yen) made with 100% buckwheat flour and no additives. They also offer unique dishes aimed at women, such as "Foie Gras Espuma Mori," which is made with foamy foie gras, the spicy "Hiyakake Jalapeno," and the mild and gentle "Merenge Tororo Soba." The restaurant also uses original Arita ware designs for its tableware, and the staff uniforms are designed by popular stylist Kyoko Kame, demonstrating their commitment to more than just the food. Fam's House on the second floor serves American grill and Tex-Mex dishes and cocktails. We recommend the Hot Guacamole, an original version of Mexico's signature salsa. Five restaurants will open on the same floor, including Shabunai, offering all-you-can-eat shabu-shabu and sukiyaki, and Koteyoshi, serving okonomiyaki and teppanyaki. Iacoppe, a bun specialty shop born from Nishi-Nippori's boulangerie Ianac, will open on the third floor. They offer three types of bread—plain, whole wheat, and brioche—and offer moist and chewy buns stuffed with sweet bean paste, beef cutlet, and seasonal ingredients. Oyster Table, opening its first store in the Ueno area, will serve pizza, bouillabaisse, and other oyster dishes, allowing you to casually enjoy them.
Two restaurants will be located on the basement floor: Torimitsukuni, where you can enjoy yakitori and sake, and Kamakura, an authentic Japanese restaurant with a total of 138 seats, from private rooms to the dining zone.
