Onitsuka Tiger, a fashion brand from Japan, offers a contemporary collection that blends fashion and sports, heritage and innovation.
The Autumn/Winter 2021 collection draws inspiration from the majestic nature of the towering Himalayan Mountains in winter and the trekking and hiking boom of the 1970s. This season, graphics created in collaboration between Toyoki Adachi, designer and art director of textile graphic brand "nowartt," and creative director Andrea Pompilio, have been incorporated into collection pieces. "nowartt," a textile graphic brand incorporating heritage and modern art, creates textile graphics by fusing two concepts: "now art textile," which evokes a sense of timelessness, and "no war textile," which evokes a sense of peace. Each piece conveys the message of "the comfort of harmony with nature." This collaboration explores the fusion of 1960s and 1970s vintage art, which embodies the power of breaking with tradition, with art, and the fusion of analog and digital. Featured motifs include the neelakurinji flower, which blooms once every 12 years, and the endangered Indian string vine, depicted in a minimalist style typical of the midcentury. Combining the opposing concepts of vintage and art, analog (hand-drawn) and digital, these textile graphics are featured on classic tracksuits, down jackets, shoes, and backpacks.
