Otemachi Otemori opens its second phase. Five relaxing stores open.

Apr 23, 2014

OOTEMORI, a shopping complex in Tokyo's Otemachi district, will hold the grand opening of its second phase on May 21st. It will open with a full lineup of 30 stores.

While the first phase featured a selection of food-focused establishments, this phase will cater to the needs of its main target audience, women working in the neighborhood, with five new shops themed around "casual stops on the way to work or after work."

In addition to the four new stores -- Neustadt Bruder, a new-style general goods store by Kyoto-based general goods store Ange; John Masters Organics Select, which carries organic cosmetics; Passage Mignon, a fashion goods store; and The Station Store United Arrows, a lifestyle shop -- Tameals, a concept cafe serving additive-free sausages, ham, and wood-roasted coffee in an Eastern European-style space surrounded by books, will also open, further enhancing the facility's "rest" function.

In addition, construction has been completed on the east side of the connecting passageway between the Tokyo Metro Marunouchi Line and the Tozai Line, and a terraced green space will appear above the facade of the store opening this season, along with a large glass wall that joins the ground floor and lets in natural light.

Otemori opened in October 2013. Its lineup focuses on stores that are "easy to use and enter for women," a rarity in the Otemachi area. In addition to its convenient location with access to five subway lines, the 15m-high atrium space lets in natural light from the "Otemachi Forest" above ground, creating a facility environment that makes you feel like you're in a forest.
