OTON GLASS, a glasses-type device that expands the sense of reading, is on display at the 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art, Kanazawa

May 8, 2017

The exhibition "lab.1 OTON GLASS" will be held at the Design Gallery of the 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art, Kanazawa, Ishikawa, until July 23rd.

"lab" is a new exhibition series that began at the museum's Design Gallery in April 2017. The title "lab" is an abbreviation of "laboratory," meaning a laboratory or research lab. This year, the exhibition will be divided into two parts and introduce two projects based on the theme of "expanding perception."

The first part will focus on "OTON GLASS," which is being developed in response to the artist's father's dyslexia. The glasses are glasses-type devices that support reading by converting visual text information into speech. We will introduce efforts to use this device, which aims to expand reading ability in various situations where reading is difficult, from disability assistance to everyday life.

In addition, a space will be set up at the venue where visitors can try on and experience a prototype of "OTON GLASS," visualizing the research process toward practical application.
