Mika Ninagawa's photo exhibition "Beautiful Days" will be held for 10 days only, from May 10th to 19th, at the Hara Museum of Contemporary Art in Shinagawa, Tokyo.
The exhibition features approximately 60 photographs taken by Mika Ninagawa as she grappled with the death of her father, Yukio Ninagawa, who passed away in May 2016. The photographs were taken in the spring of that year, and as Ninagawa describes them as "photographs taken with the eyes of the deceased," each work overlaps with the perspective of both her father as he leaves this world and his daughter as he inherits it. Just as the "Stop" sign in the photographs shows a path of footsteps beyond, the father's life seems to have stopped, yet it also hints at a connection to his daughter and her children. This will be an irreplaceable exhibition featuring works that are distinct from her previous works.
