From Jamie Reid to Banksy, an exhibition of artworks that have shaped the era will be held at Bunkamura

May 7, 2017

"ART of ROCK & GRAFFITI" will be held at Bunkamura Gallery in Shibuya, Tokyo, from May 18th to 30th.
The musicians who shaped the music scene of a generation captivated young people not only with their music but also with their fashion, art, and lifestyle, dominating the culture. Their visual designs, such as album covers and posters, have also become icons with powerful messages, traveling around the world and even influencing the street art and graffiti art scenes.
Jaime Reid, who created all of the Sex Pistols' artwork, and Shepard Fairey, who created the visual design for Led Zeppelin, have gained popularity as new contemporary artists, and artists of a generation influenced by them continue to create shocking works from the streets. Among them, graffiti artist Banksy continues to inspire the contemporary art scene, while generating mixed reviews.

The exhibition will spotlight rock, punk, and graffiti, and will feature works by Banksy, Shepard Fairey, KAWS, Dork, Martin Watson, Nick Walker, Mr. Brainwash, Jamie Reid, Richard Avedon, Brian Duffy, and others. A variety of artworks by musicians and artists who have colored the era will be on display.
