Miu Miu unveiled the 12th installment of its short film project, "MIU MIU WOMEN'S TALES," titled "THAT ONE DAY," at the Venice Days section of the Venice Film Festival. The series features works by internationally acclaimed female directors who offer a sharp perspective on femininity in the 21st century. This latest installment is directed by American filmmaker Crystal Moselle, who won the Grand Jury Prize at the Sundance Film Festival for her documentary film, "The Wolfpack," about a family homeschooling their seven children. The protagonist is Rachel, a 17-year-old girl living in the suburbs of New York. Fed up with the discrimination caused by male chauvinism, she embarks on a journey of self-discovery by skateboarding. One day, she encounters a group of fearless, charismatic female skaters. Rachel's world changed when she saw women who embraced femininity and undaunted by the harsh realities young women face. "For the first time in my life, I didn't feel lonely," she confesses. Director Crystal Moselle commented on the adolescence depicted in the film, "I'm deeply drawn to the adolescence of women's lives—that time when you're neither a girl nor a woman. When I was in the midst of adolescence, Miu Miu was a huge part of my story of growing from girl to woman." During the evening of the Venice Film Festival, Miuccia Prada hosted a dinner party to celebrate the release of her new film. Guests included Crystal Moselle, director of the film, Sakura Ando, who starred in Japanese director Naomi Kawase's 11th film, "SEED," which was also screened, as well as Naomi Watts and Dakota Fanning.
The new work "THAT ONE DAY" is currently available on Miu Miu's official website (http://www.miumiu.com/en/women_tales?cc=JP), where the project's archives can also be viewed.
