Biba celebrates its 50th anniversary with Farfetch releasing vintage items from the brand's golden age of the 1970s

Sep 9, 2014

Online shopping site Farfetch will be releasing an archive collection by London-based brand Biba on the 10th.

This event commemorates Biba's 50th anniversary. The brand was founded by fashion illustrator Barbara Hulanicki and flourished during the era known as "Swinging London." Known for its bold prints and miniskirts, its Kensington store became a London landmark at the time.

This collection will be sold in collaboration with Los Angeles-based select shop Decades. The lineup includes approximately 100 items released during the brand's golden age in the 1960s and 1970s. Many rare one-of-a-kind items will be on offer, including the leopard print long coat worn by Twiggy in a 1973 Vogue shoot (recommended price: 231,000 yen), an Art Nouveau-style printed blouse (recommended price: 47,250 yen), and a mini dress with contrasting white buttons and buckles (recommended price: 89,250 yen).

Ahead of the launch, Farfetch CEO Jose Neves commented, "Viva is an iconic British fashion brand that remains relevant to us today. We are excited to see how it will be received by the next generation."
