The Pass the Baton Omotesando store in Omotesando Hills will be hosting the "70s-80s KENZO Collection by Creative Director Kumiko Kubo" from September 4th, selling the "KENZO" collection owned by creative director Kumiko Kubo.
Kubo moved to France at the age of 20 to study under Kenzo Takada and spent three years at a Paris atelier. During that time, driven by a desire to keep beautiful things close at hand, she began collecting clothing from luxury fashion house boutiques and antique markets. Kubo explains her change of heart, saying, "Recently, I've come to realize the importance of sharing things with others, and I've begun to think it's okay to let go." This time, the lineup will focus on the Kenzo collection from the early 1970s, including predecessors of Kenzo and early Kenzo pieces. After returning from France, Kubo founded KENZO INTERNATIONAL TOKYO and became a freelance stylist, mainly working for fashion magazines such as anan and ELLE JAPON. He is currently active in a wide range of fields as a designer, coordinator and director.
