Mandarin Oriental Tokyo's Christmas cakes will be available for pre-order from November 1st. For Christmas 2014, Executive Pastry Chef Shuji Muto has proposed a special new creation, a variety of cakes perfect for the holidays, centered around the concept of "spheres gently inflated with dreams and hopes." The "Flocon de Neige" (6,000 yen) is a square Christmas cake coated in vibrant red powder. When cut, it reveals layers of pistachio, white chocolate mousse, and strawberry jelly, creating a gorgeous contrast. Don't miss the "Mont Beau Sapin" (8,000 yen), which resembles a snowy diorama. This cheesecake, combining smooth mascarpone cheese with cinnamon-flavored sautéed apples, is so delicately crafted that it's almost a shame to eat it. The "Buche de Noël (4,800 yen)," a combination of cream and chocolate made with the original Mandarin Oriental Blend tea leaves, comes in a cute gift-box design. The classic "Gateau de Fraise de Noël (15cm 5,400 yen, 12cm 4,400 yen)" is specially decorated with a white chocolate balloon. Other limited-edition items available only this time of year include the classic chocolate confectionery "Trésor Blanc (1,400 yen)," which is available in a limited white version, and the "La Collection de Noël (1,800 yen)," a macaron set in the Christmas colors of red, white, and camel. All items will be on sale from December 1st to December 25th at the directly managed patisserie "Gourmet Shop by Mandarin Oriental Tokyo," located on the first floor of Mandarin Oriental Tokyo facing Chuo-dori.
