Magnolia Bakery, known worldwide for its colorful pastel-colored cupcakes, will open its first Japanese store, Magnolia Bakery Omotesando, on June 16th. The store is located at 5-10-1 Jingumae, Shibuya-ku, GYRE, basement floor 1. Since its launch in 1996, the bakery has garnered popularity for its freshly baked sweets and has appeared in numerous TV shows and movies, including "Sex and the City," "The Devil Wears Prada," and "Gossip Girl." The store has a floor space of 170 square meters (including a 116-square-meter kitchen) and seats nine. It primarily serves takeout. The interior, designed by the same team that designed the New York store, features pastel green walls and a white-based floor, creating a refreshing impression. The interior's fixtures, such as lighting and chairs, are all vintage. The most popular item, the cupcake (430 yen), is a sponge cake topped with chocolate cream or pastel-colored vanilla cream in pink, purple, and orange. The cream is topped with colorful granular and flower-shaped toppings, creating a visually stunning treat. In addition to cupcakes, the shop offers approximately 150 different sweet treats, including light and fluffy cheesecake (880 yen), banana pudding (680 to 880 yen), vanilla pudding with banana and wafers, cookies (130 to 380 yen), brownies (380 yen), and cakes (580 yen for one serving, 3,300 yen for 6 to 8 servings). Approximately 40 to 50 types of fresh and baked sweets are sold daily, and the selection changes daily. Seasonal sweets are also available for Christmas and Valentine's Day.
The store also sells original goods imported from the United States, such as T-shirts, tote bags, and vintage-style aprons, and through the glass-walled storefront, customers can watch skilled staff applying icing (cream decorations) right in front of them.
In addition to having locations in New York, Los Angeles, and Chicago in the United States, Magnolia Bakery has also expanded to the Middle East, including Dubai, Kuwait, and Doha. Starting with Japan, which will be the first Asian store, the store plans to accelerate its expansion throughout Asia.
