Designer Yohji Yamamoto and adidas have collaborated on the third uniform for the Spanish professional soccer team Real Madrid for the 2014-15 season. The limited edition will be released on September 19th.
Yamamoto, seeing a modern-day heroic tale in the history of the current European champions, was inspired by a mythical creature that combines the appearances of a dragon and a bird, and incorporated the dragon's strength and determination, as well as the bird's speed and cunning, that Real Madrid's star players possess into the design.
The new uniform features a henley neckline, dyed solid black, Yamamoto's signature color, and features adidas' classic three stripes and "Performance" logo. The uniform features breathable and lightweight adizero technology, ensuring lightweight comfort and freedom of movement without sacrificing stretch or durability.
In addition, a limited edition of 1,400 uniforms featuring Yamamoto's signature on the back and the number "3" representing Adidas' three stripes will be sold in stores around the world. The price is 32,000 yen. In Japan, the uniform will be available from September 19th at the Yohji Yamamoto Aoyama flagship store, Y-3 directly managed stores, and Y-3 STORE ZOZOVILLA. A handmade premium commemorative box is included.
