Issey Miyake Parfums will release its new men's fragrance, "NUIT D'ISSEY," on October 8th. Nuit d'ISSEY was created with inspiration from the night. To express a new worldview of black and nighttime scents in this fragrance, the brand hired two perfumers: Dominique Ropion, who has created nearly 100 perfumes in his more than 30-year career and was awarded the French Order of Arts and Letters in 2012, and Loc Dong, known as the industry's first Asian perfumer and specializing in innovative approaches to synthetic fragrances. By incorporating a scent inspired by "light piercing the darkness of night" into the simple and refreshing scent that is characteristic of Issey Miyake, a powerful leather scent enveloped in wood and spice was born. Top notes are composed of bergamot and grapefruit. The new fragrance's core middle notes feature black pepper and vetiver, complementing the leather notes. The base notes, a powerful scent evoking the night, feature dark wood, patchouli, and tonka bean.
The bottle design and packaging also feature black, a color symbolizing the night. The bottle glass features smoky gradations and thin black stripes brushed into the surface, evoking the shadows of the night, the play of light, and the moonlight and halo reflected on the water's surface. The matte jet black cap adds elegance to the bottle. The packaging contrasts the two shades of black used on the bottle, separated by a horizontal line. Prices are 7,560 yen (75ml) and 10,260 yen (125ml).
The image visual, by British visual artist and photographer Ryan Hopkinson, depicts a man traveling through the nocturnal world of nature. At the launch event held on the 27th, Agnès Satin, International Marketing Director of Issey Miyake Parfum at Beauté Prestige International, took the stage. "Night is an important theme for perfume, along with sports, but what we have expressed with Nuit d'Issey is not the sensual, glamorous, or clubby imagery seen in traditional perfumes. Based on the Issey Miyake Parfum concept that 'nature is the most wonderful perfume,' we have expressed night as something sublime and compassionate, inspired by nature, storing up new sensibilities and energy and reviving it."
