Isetan Shinjuku is hosting a limited-time shop called "Japanese Classics Designed by Taku Yoshimizu @Re-Style CULTURE" in the TOKYO Closet/Re-Style TOKYO section on the second floor of the main building, running until February 16th. This limited-time shop features collaborations between art director Taku Yoshimizu and Japan's most iconic anime, manga, and live-action works.
Japanese Classics is a new art project launched by Yoshimizu's art and design firm, Swimmy Design Lab, that breaks the conventions of the character industry. At the venue, characters Yoshimizu has loved since childhood have been humorously reimagined in his unique style and are available on tights, boxer shorts, pouches, inner bags, as well as notebooks, mint tablet cases, water bottles, small plates, and soba cups.
In addition, Isetan Shinjuku is also offering custom orders (starting at ¥7,000) where you can have your favorite characters (some exclusions apply) printed on a T-shirt on the spot. The T-shirts are available in white and grey, with the white available in colour and monotone prints, and the grey available in monotone prints.
The works being rewritten by him this time include "Princess Knight," "Minky Momo," "Cutie Honey," "Time Bokan Series, Yatterman," "Kaiju Booska," "GeGeGe no Kitaro," "Hatch the Orphan," "Astro Boy," "Urusei Yatsura," "Heidi, Girl of the Alps," "Detective Conan," "Kinnikuman," and "Himitsu no Akko-chan."
