The 39th Kimura Ihei Photography Award goes to Eiki Mori, depicting an "intimate" relationship

The winner of the 39th (2013) Kimura Ihei Photography Award (sponsored by The Asahi Shimbun Company and Asahi Shimbun Publications) has been announced: Mori Eiki.
The work in question is the photobook "Intimacy" (published by Nanarokusha). Mori's work depicts the intimate relationships he has with his lovers and friends, sometimes featuring himself as a subject. The winner will be announced in the February 5th edition of the Asahi Shimbun and in the March issue of Asahi Camera, on sale February 20th. Details of the selection process will be published in the magazine's April issue. Mori was born in Ishikawa Prefecture in 1976. He graduated from the Photography Department of Parsons School of Design in the United States in 2001. He currently works primarily in editorial photography.
The award ceremony will be held at 6:30 PM on April 17th at the Tokyo Kaikan in Marunouchi, Tokyo. The winner will receive a certificate, a medal, and a prize of 1 million yen. An exhibition of the winning works will be held from April 17th to 24th at Konica Minolta Plaza (Gallery C) in Shinjuku, Tokyo.

This award, which is given to new photographers who have produced outstanding works each year, was established in 1975 to commemorate the achievements of the late Kimura Ihei. Past recipients include Fujiwara Shinya, Tsuzuki Kyoichi, Homma Takashi, Ninagawa Mika, HIROMIX, and Ume Kayo.
