This exhibition is a traveling extension of the previous one, which ran from December last year to February this year at the Grand Palais in Paris, tracing the maison's epic history from its founding in 1854 to the present day. It was curated by Olivier Saillard, director of the Palais Galliera, Musée de la Mode de la Ville de Paris. It is comprised of 10 chapters on the theme of travel, one of which is dedicated to Japan, a new chapter added for the Tokyo exhibition. The special venue, set up in Kioicho, the location of the brand's first store in Japan in 1978, will feature carefully selected objects and documents from the brand's archives, as well as works on loan from the Palais Galliera Museum of Modern Art, Paris, and private collectors, and trunks made by artisans at Villa Kujoyama in Kyoto. There will also be a section where visitors can experience the craftsmanship of Louis Vuitton's atelier artisans.
