Chanel has announced a new timepiece, the J12 Calibre 12.2 Edition 1.
Two years after the introduction of the Calibre 12.1, an automatic movement made exclusively for Chanel by movement manufacturer Kenissi, in 2021 Chanel has equipped the J12, with its popular 33mm case, with a new automatic movement, the Calibre 12.2.
This movement, designed exclusively for Chanel, is a true feat of technical expertise. Rather than simply scaling down the existing Calibre 12.1, the size, shape, and placement of each of its 174 individual components had to be carefully considered and engineered, requiring exceptional expertise. The rotor, visible through the transparent caseback, is a unique design by the CHANEL Creation Studio, a pursuit of perfect circularity, just like the Caliber 12.1. Despite its openwork design, it ensures efficient winding. This beautiful circle is one of the signatures of CHANEL Haute Horlogerie. The Caliber 12.2 is COSC-certified (Swiss Official Chronometer Testing Institute), and despite its compact size, it boasts a power reserve of approximately 50 hours. The J12 Caliber 12.2 Edition 1 features a baguette-patterned sapphire on the bezel, adding a touch of jewel-like elegance, and a sparkling diamond on the crown. This commemorative model, equipped with this commemorative new movement, will be released worldwide in a limited edition of 555 pieces each in tone-on-tone black and white.
