A charity campaign commemorating the release of the film "If Cats Disappeared from the World" will be held at Isetan Mitsukoshi Group stores from May 9th. "If Cats Disappeared from the World," scheduled for release on May 14th, is a new film based on the tear-jerking best-selling novel "If Cats Disappeared from the World" (also known as "Seka Neko") by Genki Kawamura. Starring Takeru Sato, who plays the dual role of a demon with the same appearance as the protagonist, the film also stars Aoi Miyazaki, Gaku Hamada, Eiji Okuda, and Mieko Harada. As part of the "Global Green Campaign," which aims to foster a sustainable and comfortable relationship between humans and nature, Isetan Mitsukoshi Group stores will be selling limited-edition charity goods featuring the two cats from the film, "Lettuce" and "Cabbage."
The mascot (300 yen including tax) has apparently been specially blessed at Imado Shrine in Asakusa, which is revered as the "god of matchmaking," so that it will attract the interest of young women and couples. Profits from the charity sales will be used through the Christel Vie Ensemble General Incorporated Foundation to support activities aimed at eliminating the culling, abandonment, and abuse of dogs and cats in Japan. In addition, in response to the recent Kumamoto earthquake, a portion of the charity funds will be used to support the disaster-stricken areas through the Japanese Red Cross Society.
