Axis Photo Marche 3, a photo market where you can easily explore everything from the best new artists to masterpieces by masters, will be held at the Axis Gallery in Roppongi, Tokyo, from June 9th to 12th. The market will feature a wide range of works, carefully selected by discerning photo galleries, from the best new artists to masterpieces by masters. Prices range from around ¥10,000 to more expensive pieces, and photo books, used cameras, and frames will also be on display. Special features include a vintage Mount Fuji photography collection featuring timeless masterpieces by photographers such as Koyo Okada, known for his work appearing on the 1,000-yen bill, and Kinbei Kusaka, who preserved Meiji-era culture, lifestyle, and landscapes in colorized photographs. A photo café will also be set up, serving coffee from OBSCURA COFFEE ROASTERS in Sangenjaya, allowing visitors to enjoy conversations with photographers and gallerists they might not otherwise have the opportunity to meet.
Exhibitors include galleries such as Interart 7, Sakurado, Smart Ship Gallery, tokyoarts gallery, Gallery Nieves, Photo Classic, Pretz Gallery, Miura Jiro Gallery, Murakoshi Toshiya Factory, and Loony 247 Photography, as well as bookstores such as KANA KAWANISHI ART OFFICE and Shelf, as well as the Japan Photography Art Dealers Society and Gelatin Silver Session.
In addition, an open portfolio review will be held on June 10th and 11th. Photographers, gallerists, and dealers will be on hand to critique works and offer tips and advice. Each session is limited to five people, with each person allowed approximately 15 minutes. For application details, please visit http://www.axisinc.co.jp/parts/building/event/493/img/review.pdf.
