The exhibition "Nakajima Chinami and the Toy Series: The Artist's Secret" will be held at the Shoto Museum of Art, Shibuya Ward, Tokyo, from May 31 to July 10. Nakajima Chinami is a Japanese painter who showed early talent, having been selected for the Japan Art Academy Exhibition while still a student at Tokyo University of the Arts. Her diverse range of subjects, including flower and bird paintings, portraits, and landscapes, as well as her work on book covers and illustrations, make for a diverse creative output. Nakajima has stated that she wants to continue painting her "Toy Series" for the rest of her life. This series features toys from around the world, including Mexico, Peru, France, Belgium, India, and Japan, which she has collected herself. The simple toys, depicted with flowers against a window as a backdrop, exude an exotic atmosphere and create a mystical worldview. In addition to displaying approximately 60 works from the "Toy Series," many of the toys that inspired them will also be displayed throughout the exhibition. In addition, flower sketches created for the toy series will also be on display. During the exhibition, Nakajima herself will be holding events such as gallery talks and talk shows. Further details can be found on the museum's official website.
