Run freely around the museum in the middle of the night in the smart shoes "Orphe"! no new folk studio "Orphe" exhibition held at the 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art

May 17, 2016

The exhibition "no new folk studio 'Orphe'" featuring Orphe, smart footwear for artists and performers that emits sound and light, will be held at the Design Gallery of the 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art, Kanazawa from May 21st to September 25th.

Created by no new folk studio, Orphe produces musical instrument-like sounds and emits various lights and colors when the wearer moves. The team is currently working with engineers and designers to refine the product, and preparations are underway for full-scale sales.

The exhibition will also feature a video work, "Motion - Score," in which a dancer wearing Orphe runs freely around the museum in the middle of the night. The dancer's movements are converted into sound and light, creating a musical performance that resembles a musical score. A related event, a talk featuring demonstrations by members of no new folk studio, will be held on May 21st. The event is limited to 80 people and admission is free.
